Sunlight filters through a canopy of kukui trees to illuminate a lo’i kalo (taro patch) in Waipio Valley on the island of Hawai’’i. The life-giving waters that nourish this lo’i are from Hi’ilawe and Hakalaoa, the twin waterfalls in Waipio Valley whose waters have only recently been restored.
