Fuzzy Lehua Buds

A cluster of fuzzy ‘ohi’a lehua buds (metrosideros polymorpha) transform themselves into pom-pom like lehua blossoms in Kilauea Crater on the Big Island of Hawai’i. ‘Ohi’a lehua is endemic to Hawai’i, is the dominant native tree, and is able to assume a variety of forms depending on the specific demands of its habitat.
