Pink Liko Lehua

Fuzzy pink liko (young leaves) of this ‘ohi’a lehua (metrosideros polymorpha) grow on a barren lava flow along Halema’uma’u Trail in Kilauea Crater on the Big Island of Hawai’i. ‘Ohi’a lehua is often the first to colonize a lava flow after an eruption.
