Kamehameha Butterfly on Yellow Ginger

A rare Kamehameha Butterfly (Vanessa Tameamea) rests on fragrant yellow ginger flowers in Koloa Gulch on the windward coast of O’ahu. Called “Lepelepe o Hina” in Hawaiian, it is one of only two butterfly species that are endemic to Hawai’i.
