Kahuli on Olomea

This rare and endangered kahuli or pupu kani oe, O’ahu tree snail (Achitinella mustellina), sleeps on the leaves of an olomea (Perrotetia sanwichensis) on the slopes of Mount Ka’ala, the highest point on O’ahu. These endemic snails graze on algae and fungi that often grow on plant leaves.
